Isaac M Wise Temple

This corner of the world is a bit of a separation of church and state.  I am standing in front of city hall and am surrounded by the most amazing religious buildings.  The beautiful Temple (circa 1866)  originally budgeted at a cost of $35,000 for the land, and $55,000 for the building, the total cost of the enterprise exceeded $300,000, largely due to post Civil War inflation.  The architect was James Keys Wilson.

In the foreground is the St Peter in Chains Cathedral. (circa 1845).   Not seen a three other churches.  Its an amazing conglomeration of religious architecture.
